  UCLA Researchers Develop Smartphone App to Test for Mercury Levels in Water
The development of this testing tool could be particularly useful in regions with limited access to more expensive technology to test for mercury content in water. Researchers on the interdisciplinary team include UCLA undergraduates Richie Nagi, Kayvon Sadeghi, Eddie Yan and So Jung Ki.

  UCLA Scholars win 6 Best Poster Awards at ABRCMS National Conference
Congratulations to MARC Scholars Michael Rale and Brian Perez, MSD Scholar C.Y. Kimberly Tsui, CARE Scholar Nancy Lopez, HHURP Scholar Jennifer Pena and Benni Vargas, who all took home Best Poster Presentation Awards at the 2013 ABRCMS Conference in Nashville.

Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Program Scholars Mericien Venzon and Daniel Wong were among five students chosen by alumni donors and volunteers from 200 applicants.

Daniel Foster received a Poster Presentation Award at the SACNAS National Conference as well as accepting a "Role Model Chapter" award on behalf of the SACNAS at UCLA Chapter.

  UCLA Almnus Randy Schekman wins 2013 Nobel Prize
